As per the description provided, It looks like you are facing an issue with sound after computer wake up from sleep mode. I would suggest you to run the audio troubleshooter after waking up the computer from sleep mode and check if it helps.

In the new window, click Hardware and Sound. In the list of options, click on Playing audio. Click Next and follow the on-screen instructions. Note: I advise you to check the sound status in device manager when sound stops working. Search for sound drive. Right click the sound drive and click uninstall. Follow the prompt and restart the computer. Note: If the driver is not compatible with Windows 8 I would suggest you to install the driver in compatibility mode.

Click the compatibility tab, tick the box next to Run this program in compatibility mode for and select Windows.
