So there is no exact time when you get replies. Following these steps should fix the vast majority of Windows boot issues—at least the ones that are actually fixable. The dark cloud that always hangs over such issues is the possibility that the hard drive or another component in the computer may be failing.

My Windows 8 PC will not boot up at all This is frustrating. Extremely frustrating. I have a pretty new computer. Just a few months old. It is supposed to be a good one. Dell XPS Quad core i7 processor lots of memory and extras This computer also has the 64 bit edition of Windows 8 installed on it.
Windows 8 is driving me up the wall!!! I have had numerous problems with it since day 1. As recently as a few days ago, my system was running reasonably okay. Then I downloaded a driver for my network card from the dell. From that point on, I cannot get my computer to boot up properly.
I have turned my computer off and on multiple times in hopes that it would correct whatever is wrong. If it's not SSD, you can try spinrite www. Can't remember I was just looking into it and this laptop doesn't have an ssd.
Rather its a seagate hybrid drive with 24GB ssd cache. Still the problem that your having is something thats very common to the hdd failing. If the problem was in your uefi bios it wouldn't even get to the windows 8 screen. I've had some previous experiences when testing out the uefi bios. Also I did a little bit more digging. If the usb disk is in a MBR format then it won't be recognized in the bios and windows won't install as well. It must be in a GPT format.
I know this doesn't solve your initial problem, but it may help you along the troubleshooting process as far as it recognizing your usb drive at least. Here's the link to the GPT conversion if your interested. Worse comes to worse backup your information and refresh windows 8 and that should fix the problem as well.
No dice, so far. It boots into safe mode, though Can you see if it created a system restore point? Then try to restore it and see if it fixes the problem? Turn on non-Microsoft services one at a time and reboot in between until you find the bit that's causing trouble. Obviously, this is going to take a HUGE amount of time. Speaking as the guy who does this daily, you're better off running some decent hardware diagnostics.
If those check out, wipe and reload. Windows 8 devices all use something called "Secure Boot" which will prevent you from loading anything that isn't securely signed Currently just Windows 8 and an upcoming Ubuntu release I think , to boot anything else any USB, CD etc or to install Windows 7 , you normally need to disable Secure Boot and then enable Legacy Mode it might be called something different , which will allow you to boot to different devices USB, CD etc.
There are 2 available Restore points and neither works.
