Windows sp3 no sound
If Microsoft expect people to move from a fairly stable and much loves Windows XP pro 32 bit system to a Vista 64 bit System they need to ensure back ward compatible with existing hardware and software from older programs. Vista is ant productive and unstable, we should all bill Microsft for the time and tech support to fix the problems they create with their SP3. Trust Microsoft to stuff it up again,.
You never know what the next Software patch might do to your PC. SP3 contains very minimal audio changes. It even includes HD Audio class driver. Whats is the scenario causing the AccessDenied Error? Is it during the drivers installation?
If sound device is not available check whether any yello bang symbol saying something simeilar to HD audo device? If yes then you need to install your sound drivers. Giving the exact scenario causing the problem might help to resolve the issue. MelissaB wrote: I just installed SP3 yesterday and have no sound anymore either! I'm furious at Microsoft for this! I can't afford to go out and buy a new computer because of them! Do they have a fix for this yet?! I need my computer for my small home business and HAVE to have sound again!
If you update your computer via the Windows Update or Microsoft Update web sites and choose Custom Installation you will be offered optional Hardware Updates. As far as I know, these Hardware Updates are always optional and never offered automatically. In my experience about 1 time in, say, 20, an optional Hardware Update for audio actually breaks the audio and you get no sound after applying the update. I presume the problem arises because Windows Update misidentifies your hardware.
The solution to this problem is simple, you uninstall the update or use Device Manager to roll back the audio driver to the previous version. I've resolved our problem two monts ago by comparing systems and effects. I percived that some parts od services or dll are blocked.
I had found that it concerns only encrypted systems so I started investigations inside SafeBoot. After SafeBoot Port Control removal it started working. In my case the problem was connected with SafeBoot Port Control which blocked services and dll files I heard that SP3 is having the problems with High Defnition Audio, The High Defnition audio requires a patch to be installed to work, This patch is integrated in SP3 due to this while drivers installation the installer looks for this patch.
It could be that problem but it doesn't resolve problem of driver blocking. SB is going to patch this problem in next version. The device manager shows all my drivers and no conflicts. Everything should work but doesn't. What can I try next? Click tab "Audio". In the section "Sound playback, please list for us what options are available in the drop-down "Default device". Then check that you have a device selected which you can actually hear such as loudspeakers, rather than an output socket.
Good news and bad as far as my system. I uninstalled SP3 and installed SP2. I did an Windows XP custom update search with SP2 and installed the "faster downloader" update only don't know if that had any effect at all.
Then I reinstalled SP3 and my sound was working. The bad news is that then I had a new problem. I couldn't connect to the internet and I. E 7 kept re-opening itself so fast that it was hard to stop with task manager. I finally gave up and reinstalled SP2 until I feel that it is stable enough to reinstall. Hope this might help someone else. How did he remove them? SafeBoot is a third-party security product, which presumably he had previously installed on his PC.
Since you do not have this product on your PC, his experience is irrelevant to your issues. I tried your recommendation and thankyou it worked, Now i only to put other things back as they should be thankyou once again. What is going on? Why did SP3 block the Audio device? We just happened to stumble across this thread. On the surfact it appeared to be a Sigmatel driver issue Dell Latitude Notebooks. The fix for the problem is to change your policy on the Safeboot server to 'unfilter' audio devices.
The problem is resolved when the clients resync with the server. Go into the sound settings and tern them off then reset your computer then tern them on again and reset again. I have the same issue with my system after I installed SP3.
Thanks Manny. Not a sensible solution for most of these problems. Many devices are not digitally signed by the manufacturer since problems occur on outdated old products. I have a Creative Live 5. Each system worked just fine. However, there are many posts that point to SP3 and the WDM driver for Creative Live that shows the dreaded yellow mark under the device manager.
SP3 detects the newly found hardware and immediately installs the WDM driver declaring that it was successfully installed. However, checking the control panel and seeing sound properties shows that it is entirely greyed out! Creative Labs driver shows the most recent driver was released back in Your advice is totally unrealistichere.
Sorry, I was busy all this months. It also works after applaying SP. There is no need to roll back SP3 installation. I checked it on 20 systems with different hardware. I was having similar challenges after reinstalling XP I had downloaded the drivers and checked everything under troubleshooting as well.
The driver showed up, but wasn't being recognized. I made a last ditch effort by doing a rollback and it reverted to an earlier version of the driver Sounds and Audio Devices - Properties - Hardware - click on driver - properties - click roll back driver.
This fixed my problem instantly and then allowed my to upgrade my driver to the latest version In my case Realtek HD Audio. Office Office Exchange Server. Not an IT pro? Windows Client. Sign in. Also when things first went wrong I did download a driver from RealTek that was what got rid of my SndVol Since then, I've uninstalled the driver and let XP relocate it.
It does without any problem and says it's working properly, so I'm a bit muddled now about downloading again. I went to the page on your link and it took me to a list of stuff I didn't really understand I'm not at all sure what to download now from that page. Sorry if the above seems 'dim' but I'm not an expert lol, as if you couldn't guess eh and I'm learning lots as I'm going along. Also, my PC didn't come with any disks at all. Everything was pre-loaded on in advance.
I did make 'rescue disks' but the PC came with nothing. Was just looking at what appears different in your machine than mine since my board has an integrated sound chipset which runs Realtec sound also. Looking at the specs for your computer and matching them against a real Intel Board with an integrated sound system as close I can get, this Intel download might probably???? Don't know. Again I don't want to confuse you with geek speak AND also don't want to hurt your computer in any way.
Unfortunately I'm in situation where I cannot recommend nor can I recommend this solution because if I break your your computer, I cannot fix it due to the fact I'm thousands of miles away. I wish I did have a "magic" solution but I don't. I only know what I would do if the computer were on my bench. Kaz, do not use drivers or audio software from RealTek or Intel unless the ones from HP just don't work. If there is a RealTek device under "Sound, video, and game controllers" in Device Manager, then you do have some driver installed.
What I was hoping to see is that you had some RealTek Sound Manager software installed in addition to the device drivers. Do you have something like that?
It may not look exactly the same. Based on some of the comments that you made, I think you do have something like this, but maybe don't realize it comes from RealTek.
Another thing that I would like you to consider is reinstalling the whole RealTek software package, which should include the driver and Sound Effect Manager. After all of the fiddling around trying to make it work, it may have gotten wonky. Be aware that RealTek makes other devices, such as network chips.
Get the software from HP at this location which I reached by putting in the model of your system, Pavilion Hi Scott, Thanks for the link with the pics, I have something very similar which is called multi-channel sound manager.
Not exactly the same and as you say, doesn't say 'RealTek' on it anywhere but definitely along the same lines as the link. No sound yet though I'm sincerely sorry to end up being such a pain in the butt,:- I don't think I can solve this without someone actually taking a look at it now.
I just can't think of anything else to try. It should show up as one of the running processes in the task manager. Must have version which is supported by G chipset per her computer specs.
Much more than 1 file update. Kaz, you are not a pain in the butt. Geeks like me enjoy this kind of challenge. I can take a look at your system using CrossLoop remote access software. If you would like to try it, ask the moderators to send me your e-mail address.
